Connecting Choices covers areas of: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Chesterton, Holdich, Silverdale, Parksite, Cross Heath and Kidsgrove.

The project aims to:

Improve social inclusion, confidence, access to childcare, money management, employment opportunities and more...

The project will work with unemployed and/or economically inactive people:

  • Unemployed is those who are claiming JSA or UC (AWRR Group)
  • Inactive (economically inactive- are those who are claiming ESA, IS, UC (WFI or Work Prep Group), Carer’s Allowance or not in receipt of benefits

My grades from school are bad, can I still get a job?

Most jobs do require grades in Maths and English of 4-9, equivalent to a C and above. We can give you the support to get your grades though so there's no need to worry. Even if you require childcare we can give you support and advice.

I've had mental health issues in the past will I be supported?

We support everyone who comes through our door with mental health. We want to be able to support you into a job which you are comfortable with, something that will help you open more doors for continued opportunity. Even when we do help you to achieve job success we are still here if you need us.

I've lost my job and I'm suffering financially, I don't know what to do...

If you are an Aspire Housing customer you may get referred to us through the Money Advice Team. We can make sure you have an up-to-date CV and get you into another job in no time.

I'm nervous about job interviews, I don't know what to expect?

There is nothing to be nervous about! We will go through what will be asked in an interview, chances are most employers just want to get to know you as a person first! We have loads of top tips for interviews so we know you can go with your head held high, full of confidence!
