Why did you choose to go to PM Training?
I went to St Thomas More Sixth Form in Longton and studied IT, Business Studies and Health and Social Care, but after struggling to do well in my first year, I thought I wanted to do something different.
That's when I researched different apprenticeship providers in the area and got in touch with PM Training, they were the first and only people I spoke to.
What do you remember about your time at PM Training?
I remember getting interviewed by Liz Myatt and being offered the chance to do my Level 1 NVQ in Business Administration. All the staff made me feel comfortable and I just fitted right in.
I did feel nervous at first but once I got used to my surroundings, I was alright and the staff helped to build my courage up. Then I was told I was being kept on to do my NVQ Level 2 while earning at the same time.
PM Training was just amazing for me. I enjoyed working in the different departments like Homeworks, Business Development and Officeworks.
How did your apprenticeship change your career path?
I realised I would be better off doing an apprenticeship with training on the job in the IT sector. I have always had a love for computers, gadgets, etc. Doing an apprenticeship and getting the career I dreamed of has helped me make my parents very proud of me.
What piece of advice would you give to young people considering an apprenticeship?
If anybody was considering doing an apprenticeship, I would say go for it because you never know where it will take you.
Where has your job taken you?
Now I have a job in my dream career, I have been at Prohire Plc for four years. I feel that if it wasn't for PM Training and my mum, I would never have realised my full potential. My mum has always been there for me through the bad times as well as the good times. She has always helped me, given me advice and taught me there are some many opportunities in life.
What is the most valuable information you learned?
Overtime, I have realised that the possibilities are endless and that if you don't take opportunities, you will regret it.
