The project features recycled scrap metal engineered by over one hundred different apprentices over six months. Each apprentice contributed to the large-scale sculpture which represents the philosophy of ‘helping up’ rather than ‘handing out’.
More than 100 young people each contributed a piece of the production which made this one of the most hands-on Artworks projects to date. The base of the hand has hundreds of pieces of sheet metal welded to the frame, these were then galvanized to help protect the hand from the elements.
Located at The Trentham Estate, these ‘living’ sculptures were ingeniously designed to look like they are coming in to land.
