Maximum of £9,000 if you are a Levy payer. Maximum of £450 if you are a non-Levy company

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This apprenticeship standard is an ideal programme for those wishing to work in an environment that operates in domestic and commercial properties undertaking the decoration and protection of buildings.

Properties include houses, schools, offices, hospitals factories and construction sites. Working internally or externally they will work individually and/or as part of a team applying water-borne and/or solvent-borne paint coatings and wallcoverings.

They will develop good knowledge of paint coatings and wallcoverings and understand and comply with statutory, safety and environmental requirements.

They will be responsible for their own work
achieving a high quality finish at the appropriate pace. Becoming good problem solvers and communicators and be able to interact effectively with colleagues, clients and associated trades.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

This apprenticeship is delivered through a blended learning approach of planned face to face learning sessions, remote learning activities, workplace visits, on and off the job training and 1 to 1 support.

It covers areas such as:

  • Understanding the most appropriate products and use of colour in different settings.
  • Wallpapering using techniques for the hanging of lining paper, standard papers, digital print, and wide width including (matching patterns, internal and external corners).
  • Understanding the principles of costing, pricing and budgeting.
  • Interpreting specification documents and ensure correct preparation and systems are followed.
  • Developing a strong work ethic, becoming motivated, reliable, and adaptable.

Throughout the apprenticeship learners will complete a portfolio of evidence with work they have completed. Without this evidence learners will not be able to progress to their End Point Assessment.

END POINT ASSESSMENT & PROGRESSION

This apprenticeship includes an end point assessment consisting of:

  • Knowledge assessment
  • Practical skills test
  • Professional discussion

Completing this apprenticeship programme with its transferable skills will enable progression into roles such as supervisory and management roles or more specific construction areas.
