Our dedicated Schools & Recruitment Manager, Kieran Bevan, is the first point of contact for Careers Advisers, Teachers and PAs.

Any contact with PM Training from work experience sessions, assembly information to Open Events and progression information can be accessed via this dedicated school page or through Kieran.

Kieran provides:

  • A range of visit days for groups of students
  • Work experience sessions for Year 10, 11, 12 & 13 students
  • Talks and workshop sessions in schools
  • Information events for Careers Advisers, Teachers and Parents
  • PM Training representation at your school and community careers events.

WHAT WE OFFER

PM Training Schools Ambassadors are happy to come and support school careers marketplace events and apprentice workshops to support with effective IAG. We are able to support young people and teaching staff to understand more about the apprenticeships and vocational training opportunities locally and the community impact created.

We offer:

  • Career marketplace support
  • Assembly talks
  • Mock interview support
  • Practical construction based demos in schools
  • Support with apprenticeship applications
  • Employer talks around apprenticeships and career opportunities in their sector
  • Apprentice role models to speak to young people of their progression journey into employment

WORK EXPERIENCE DAYS

PM Training offers a range of half-day work experience sessions in various construction areas. We offer tours and talks of the centre. These take usually around an hour. There are limited places and are for those in Year 10 or above. These need to be booked well in advance and usually for a one-week placement only.

The work experience days are a great way to get hands-on experience of what you can expect from a course. We run monthly public work experience days which you can book onto and we can also run ad hoc taster days.

We offer work experience days in the following trade areas:

  • Joinery 
  • Engineering 
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Brickwork 
  • Plumbing 
  • Homeworks Experience (grounds maintenance)

GATSBY BENCHMARK SESSIONS

The Gatsby Benchmark sessions are a mix of practical and theory sessions designed to assist students in their post-16 options. They support schools to meet their own Gatsby Benchmark requirements as set out in Ofsted inspections and the 2017 Careers Strategy.

The sessions Kieran has designed, cover a variety of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, listening skills, observation, problem-solving and leadership. They also teach interview techniques and CV building.

There are 4 sessions which support a variety of soft skills including; 

  1. Communication & Teamwork
  2. Apprenticeships
  3. Problem Solving & Time Management
  4. Employability and Digital skills
