PM Training is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week from 6-11 February with a range of activities to extend the skills it offers, including open days, a town centre exhibition and its 15 year Homeworks service awards.
The week involves the following:
- 8 February – PM Training Leek invites Years 10 and 11 from local schools to take part in practical sessions, meet apprentices and employers, 9.30am – 2.45pm.
- 8 February –15 years’ celebration of Homeworks awards event at PM Training Stoke, Atlas Works, College Road, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 4DQ, 3.30pm. Awards are: One to watch (Homeworks learner showing the most potential); Homeworks apprentice; Homeworks apprentice who has made the best progression after leaving; Homeworks supervisor; 3 Homeworks’ customers with the most positive attitude to young people (north, central and south of the city).
- 9 February – PM Training Newcastle – open day at PM Training, Unit 1, Brick Kiln Lane, Parkhouse Industrial Estate, Chesterton, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 7AS 12.30pm – 3.30pm.
- 10 February – PM Training Stafford – mobile office stationed outside the Guildhall in Market Square, Stafford from 10am – 4pm.
The week celebrates 15 successful years of PM Training’s Homeworks services, an innovative way of providing services to partner organisations including Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire Housing Association, while supporting young learners to become ready for work or an apprenticeship.
Homeworks services include gardening, environmental improvements, landscaping, estate caretaking, handyman services, painting and decorating, soft furnishing, metal work, streetscape and urban art.
Each year, 1000 gardens have been maintained, 300 properties painted and decorated, soft furnishings have been provided for 400 properties, there have been 500 environmental improvements and over 30 Artworks commissions have been produced.
PM Training currently has 40+ full time Homeworks teams, generally made up of a full time supervisor, apprentice and 2-3 trainees. Managers and supervisors are recruited who have skills, knowledge and experience of their specific trades or areas of work. The Homeworks service has £2.8m contracts and partnerships which provide services to over 4,000 customers each year.
