Karen Bradley, Conservative MP for Staffordshire Moorlands, visited successful training provider PM Training which has expanded in Leek, providing more job opportunities to young people in the area.
PM Training has built a leading national reputation for helping young people into work. Apprenticeships and training to get ready for work are provided from PM Training’s workshops.
PM Training in Leek provides:
- Pre-16 learning and workforce development
- Foundation learning for 16-19 year olds
- Apprenticeships in construction trades such as plastering, brickwork, and painting and decorating;
- The opportunity for learners to do pre-apprenticeship training as part of PM Training’s successful Homeworks service, which provides gardening, caretaking and home maintenance.
Learners who would like to find out more about PM Training’s service should call 01538 398750.
During her visit, Karen Bradley, MP for Staffordshire Moorlands, said: “I’m really impressed with PM Training, seeing how young people are being given the opportunity to learn skills that will help them find work. Take Brad, for example, who wants to become a joiner. Would he have known that before coming here? PM Training helps to open young people’s horizons. I’m a firm believer of the right peg fitting the right hole. Vocational training is a good thing – it is worth employers making the investment as they need people with the right skills.”
PM Training in Leek was recently rebranded from Indigo Training. Indigo Training’s Stafford centre has also been rebranded and the services it offers expanded.
The Leek and Stafford centres operate alongside PM Training’s other bases in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. PM Training employs around 160 staff in total.
PM Training is the most successful provider of its kind in Staffordshire and is the fastest-growing social enterprise in the West Midlands. Its track record of progression rates onto apprenticeship schemes is among the highest in the UK for a social enterprise organisation. Around 70% of trainees positively progress through its skills programmes and 95% of these go on to full-time apprenticeships.
PM Training supports more than 600 businesses in Staffordshire and beyond. It is also one of five providers nationally leading a “work pairing” trial for the Department for Education.
Will Nixon, Chief Executive of Enterprising Futures, the social enterprise arm of the Aspire Group, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Karen Bradley to PM Training Leek. With training centres in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle, Stafford and Leek we are now in a great position to support more learners and businesses.
“The expansion of our service means that we can increase the chance of a job for many more young people in Staffordshire.”
