Homeworks operates in partnership with Aspire Housing, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Kier Stoke providing services including:

  • Gardening
  • Environmental improvements
  • Landscaping
  • Painting and decorating
  • Soft furnishings
  • Public art
  • Estate caretaking

The teams consist of small groups of young people, working closely with trained and experienced supervisors. The community as a whole benefits from the physical improvements from work undertaken by the participants and the respect they gain for the learners on the project.

In addition to the agreed outputs, Homeworks provides individualised training to around 200 young people on Entry to Employment (E2E) and Apprenticeship programmes.

Learners also access workshops based on a number of factors, namely the initial needs assessment and feedback from weekly reviews including:

  • Realistic work experience
  • Citizenship
  • Vocational advice and guidance
  • Individual needs assessment
  • Team work
  • Motivation and orientation
  • Time keeping and attendance

Around 70% of learners completing the programme move on to apprenticeships and / or employment.  This was the highest performance achieved by a training provider in Staffordshire.
